As a minister who left fulltime ministry due to feeling the hierarchy were ripping off the congregration, I am thankfully now away from the sometimes intolerable pressures that living in the rectory bought to me. It nearly drove me to a total breakdown.
Church is not God but people often seem to think it is.

I should add that I am merely the wife of a minister, but that my personal ministry was not one that was understood or valued or even noticed within a parish.
Sorry for the confusion; still tired from travel.

    Hi Viv,

Being married to a minister is one of the most stressful jobs there is! Often because you don’t feel safe to express yourself when things do get difficult.

I have been fortunate in that I am valued in our church – but health and other factors have made me struggle with my purpose and ministry on many occasions. I need to know I contribute something of my own.
